About Brass Instrument Lessons

Our Murrieta and Menifee based Music Academy provides private Trumpet and Trombone instruction for students ages 8 and up. Whether you want a Brass instrument teacher for classical, jazz, or school band class support, we've got you covered. Our brass instructors have played and recorded professionally for many years. The lessons are customized to help players of any level from the beginner to the very advanced trumpet and trombone student.

Levels of Brass Instrument Lessons

Different stages of learning as well as personal preference will dictate different programs of study, which is why private instruction is best. Most students will not reach the advanced level of playing, which is fine because not everyone wants to be a professional brass player. What is important is that each student can go as far as his or her dedication and desire will allow.

Fun Facts About Brass Instrument Lessons

1. While modern brass instruments are typically made of brass, historically, they were made from various materials like wood, bronze, silver, and even gold.

2. The modern trumpet's design is said to be inspired by the shofar, a traditional Jewish musical instrument made from a ram's horn.

3. The trombone was introduced to the world in the famous 5th Symphony, by Ludwig van Beethoven.

4. The oldest known brass instrument is the "Roman Tuba," dating back to the 1st century AD. It was a large and straight brass instrument used in military processions and ceremonies.

5. With all of the above considered, by taking trumpet lessons, trombone lessons, or horn lessons, you are learning on an instrument that is historically-notable!

Our students have an opportunity to showcase their progress over the 10 performances per year we hold for all of our programs, averaging nearly 1 performance every month. All opportunities are optional, but highly recommended for students! We also pride ourselves on holding fundraisers and events with outside organizations, which in the past include the Lakers, Walmart Foundation, Children’s Hospital Miracle Network, and Rady’s Children’s Hospital, amongst others.

In addition to being a proud member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California (a professional organization dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in music education) and a Steinway & Sons Teaching and Educational Partner (an extremely rare designation for private music schools), we also partner with local nonprofits, public and private schools, and charter schools. Among our alumni are music industry professionals, actors, and performers, such as America’s Got Talent-2018 Golden Buzzer recipient, Makayla Phillips! As the premiere music school in Murrieta, Menifee, and Temecula, we pride ourselves on having only the best professionals on our teaching team.

Our academy instructors recommend that students practice anywhere from 20 minutes to 40 minutes every day. Remember, daily practice complements brass lessons much better than practicing several hours in a daily session. It is much better to practice in short durations (but daily and consistently). As students advance, it may be worth considering to increase the amount of time spent practicing to develop and master advanced techniques.

Yes, our Murrieta based music school offers online brass instrument classes, and they are becoming more and more popular because they can be a useful approach to study the instrument. At our Academy, we have a large number of exemplary teachers who offer online classes and can offer instruction via Zoom. This includes even instruments such as the French Horn, English Horn, Oboe, and others!

There is a large variety of brass instruments available for students to choose from: the trumpet, trombone, French Horn, tuba, and English Horn, among others. The decision is frequently influenced by personal preference, physical suitability, and the music students want to produce.
