About Ukulele Lessons

The Murrieta Academy provides private ukulele lessons for students ages of 4.5 and up. As of January 2024, we will also be offering group ukulele classes - Group Ukulele 101 (Ukulele Basics) for beginning students at both the Murrieta and Menifee campuses. Whether you want a ukulele teacher for pop, vocal accompaniment, classical, or most other styles, we've got you covered!

All of our ukulele teachers not only have the necessary academic musical knowledge, but they are also working professional musicians that regularly play in world-class venues, casinos, and recording studios both locally and throughout Southern California. Ukulele lessons are posted to each student's LessonRewind account for easy review from any computer or mobile device!

Levels of Ukulele Lessons

Different stages of learning as well as personal preference will dictate different programs of study, which is why except for beginning students starting at square-one, private instruction is best. Most students will not reach the advanced level of playing, which is fine because not everyone wants to be a professional ukulele player. What is important is that each student can go as far as his or her dedication and desire will allow.

Why Choose Our Academy

With our team of world-class ukulele instructors, we offer private and group ukulele lessons for students of all ages and levels. We’ve been a community staple for over 30 years, and pride ourselves on creating a welcoming environment for all students.

Our ukulele teachers are at the heart of our music school. As mentioned previously, we receive countless teacher applications every year, and each ukulele teacher is meticulously selected for their professionalism and great personality. Their music education, performance, and teaching experience speaks for themselves too!

We find joy in teaching students on the finest quality instruments including but not limited to our acoustic pianos, guitars, and drums. We feature a waiting area for parents with high-speed WiFi, and an entire performing arts space, equipped with a professional stage and PA system. The Academy has plenty of free parking, and is located right in the heart of the Murrieta Town Center - near restaurants, stores, and other awesome spots!

We have been a part of the Murrieta, Temecula, Menifee, Wildomar, Canyon Lake, and Lake Elsinore community since 1990. We have learned how to create the most exceptional learning environment for music and the arts over the years through teaching thousands of students within our community!

Our students have an opportunity to showcase their progress over the 10 performances per year we hold for all of our programs, averaging nearly 1 performance every month. All opportunities are optional, but highly recommended for students! We also pride ourselves on holding fundraisers and events with outside organizations, which in the past include the Lakers, Walmart Foundation, Children’s Hospital Miracle Network, and Rady’s Children’s Hospital, amongst others.

In addition to being a proud member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California (a professional organization dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in music education) and a Steinway & Sons Teaching and Educational Partner (an extremely rare designation for private music schools), we also partner with local nonprofits, public and private schools, and charter schools. Among our alumni are music industry professionals, actors, and performers, such as America’s Got Talent-2018 Golden Buzzer recipient, Makayla Phillips! We have also received endorsements by the California State Assembly and California State Senate for our long standing benefit to our communities, and are proud recipients of the 2023 Spectrum Student Satisfaction award.

Our ukulele lessons cater to a wide range of ages, from children as young as four (4) years old to adults well in their 80s. Our experienced ukulele teachers always tailor their teaching methods to match the learning pace and preferences of each individual student.

No prior musical experience is required to enroll in ukulele lessons at the Academy of Music. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some familiarity with music, our instructors will guide you through the basics and help you develop your ukulele skills.

Our ukulele lessons cover a diverse array of topics, including chord progressions, strumming techniques, reading musical notation, improvisation, and exploring various musical styles from classical to contemporary. Songwriting is an added bonus to most ukulele classes!

Ukulele lessons typically come in three pre-set durations – 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 1 hour, depending on your age and proficiency level. Most younger students start off with 30-minute lessons, while children ages 10+ benefit from 45-minute lessons. Many adults enroll in 60-minute lessons, although if you’re looking to pursue ukulele lessons casually, 30-minute lessons can be enough to make consistent progress. Twice-a-week lessons are recommended and offered to students showing passion and dedication to their instruments.

Absolutely! We encourage all our ukulele students to participate in recitals, showcases, and performances (we host over 10 shows every year!). These events provide you with the chance to build confidence, share your progress, and connect with fellow musicians and the audience. Rocktoberfest Concerts, as well as our RockStarz Bands are wonderful outlets for students looking to gain more formal performance experience.
