Music Fun Time is an innovative and proven childhood curriculum for kids 3 to 8 years old. This is not a "play group" of singing and dancing.
The program is based on Johns-Hopkins Research that has shown children (8 and under) can learn to read music notation and symbols, play instruments, and improve their ability to grasp math and science in the process.
The program focuses on learning music theory in a fun, artistic way through specially developed games and crafts. The curriculum changes every 5 minutes to hold the student's attention. Students are given a backpack including rhythm instruments, flash cards, and mp3s at registration to use in class and at home. Throughout the course, additional instruments are provided adding variety, diversity and fun! All students are introduced to piano, guitar, percussion, bells, ukulele, kazoos, flutophones, and voice. The goal is to prepare for further private instruction on the instrument of their choice when they are old enough and ready.
Class size is kept small (2 to 6 students) with an average of 4 per class. When a student starts the program, we place him/her in a class that is compatible in age and ability.
Music Fun Time has 2 performance opportunities per year where students perform for friends and family in a low-pressure showcase which helps them learn to listen to other players and helps build their confidence.
