The ROCK AND BLUES workshops are designed to give students the opportunity to play in a band. All workshops
are professionally coached by an Academy instructor. Material may range from oldies to blues, alternative to Top 40,
depending on the ability and preference of the players. Each workshop is 80 minutes a week for 10 weeks, the 10th week is a public performance provided band is ready. Workshops are currently scheduled only on Saturdays except during summer.
Joining a band is a commitment. Players must be able to commit to the entire 10-session schedule and at least one performance showcase upon enrolling.
Early registration for workshops is recommended since slots (especially for guitar) fill quickly.

SESSION #1
Level A - Saturdays (2:10 to 3:30 pm) Aug 16 to Oct 25 (No class Oct 11)
Level B - Saturdays (12:40 to 2:00 pm) Aug 16 to Oct 25 (No class Oct 11)
Level C - Fridays (7:10 to 8:30 pm) Aug 15 to Oct 17

Skills covered:
Play with a group (in sync)
Set up for your performance
Understand and use your gear properly
Follow chord charts
Backing up a singer
Adjusting to proper playing volume
Stage presence
Start and end songs properly
Following hand signals on stage

Students are grouped by experience level as follows:
Level A – Intermediate players that can read chord charts, and learn from recordings and have some previous group experience.
Level B - Competent on an instrument but little or no group experience. (Lessons for 2 years recommended)
Level C – Understanding of some basics, power chords (for guitar), simple rock groove for drummer. (Lessons for 1 year recommended)
(Evaluation may be required to determine optimum playing level) |
Full workshop will include up to:
2 singers, 2-3 guitar or keyboard players (mixed), 1 bass player, 1 drummer
(plus optional horn and/or harmonica players)

80 minutes a week for 10 weeks with performance on week 10.... $225.00
